FOREIGN DIGNITARIES IN ATHENS
Serbian President Boris Tadic, while on a three-day official visit to Greece, was received yesterday by Hellenic Republic President, Karolos Papoulias.
During the meeting, they discussed Serbia’s European prospects, Kosovo, the dispute over the name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) and bilateral economic and cultural relations.
Meanwhile, outgoing Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme was also in Athens yesterday (PHOTO), as part of his round of capitals ahead of the Belgian rotating presidency of the European Union. He met with Prime Minister George Papandreou and briefed him over the Belgian presidency’s priorities.
Moreover, the President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek will be on an official visit to Athens today, at the invitation of Greek Parliament Speaker Philippos Petsalnikos.
Buzek will be received by President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias and will hold talks with Prime Minister George Papandreou and main opposition New Democracy party leader Antonis Samaras.
